Environmental Sustainability |
Over the past decade Lol Summers Joinery has continued to strive to improve the management of its environmental resources and lessen its carbon footprint:
- Lol Summers Joinery sources its timber from sustainable sources wherever possible and always ensures full traceability is in place for all timber supplies. Our commitment to sustainable forestry stewardship and traceability in the chain of supply is certified by our ongoing membership of the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) ‘Chain of Custody Schemes’.
- Since 1998 Lol Summers Joinery has used only water-based paints and lacquers instead of solvent-based equivalents.
- Where possible all industrial waste products are recycled Inc glass, metal, plastic, paper and cardboard. Waste timber is used to heat the company’s workshops. Any specialist waste such as hazardous waste is disposed of by relevant specialist firms and traceability ensured.
- More energy-efficient and energy-saving measures continue to be introduced at the company’s Coventry site, reducing its consumption of gas and electricity by 27% since 2005.
- In order to minimise fuel consumption, site visits are, wherever possible, scheduled to coincide with deliveries and collections.
- The company also actively seeks to raise awareness of environmental sustainability issues within the wider joinery industry wherever possible.
